Ynni Llyn

Wales creates more energy than it uses but pays some of the highest bills and has high rates of fuel poverty.

Llŷn pays more than the national average for the energy it uses, uses more energy than the national average and has one of the lowest annual incomes in the UK.

Ynni Llŷn’s vision is to provide clean, renewable, reliable and predictable energy in response to energy issues specific to the Llŷn Peninsula. Ynni Llŷn will create an energy ecosystem where the benefit from generating energy from local, natural resources directly contributes to the area and its communities.

Ynni Llŷn have been involved with the proposed Solar Farm in Botwnnog and, should the development go ahead, will receive 8 solar panel installations for community use. Ynni Llŷn own the first community PV installation in the north of Wales used to reduce the running costs of Sarn Memorial Hall. Ynni Llŷn hold energy saving drop in sessions providing practical solutions and advice on how to reduce energy cost and energy use. Ynni Llŷn have already held an audit of energy needs in Botwnnog, Tudweiliog and Aberdaron wards – see the results here. And

There’s a once in a lifetime, game changing opportunity for Llŷn communities regarding their use of energy and the cost of that energy. Keep an eye on our Projects and News and the local press for more information.
