Support for Members during Covid-19

If you are having to make a significant, rapid change to your business which is threatening its survival , The Hive is offering emergency support which might be able to help:

  • Any existing co-op business (including community energy community benefit societies) are eligible as long as they have been trading for at least 2 years and have a turnover of less than £1m
  • DTA Wales, Wales Co-op and Consultancy.coop are existing providers on The Hive programme, based in Wales, but there are others in England who have more of a community energy background (such as Sharenergy). Any one of us can make the referral for support into The Hive team at Co-operatives UK. Co-ops themselves cannot apply directly. It doesn’t have to be the adviser making the referral, who supports the co-op – as they will be matched to the right person.

A full list of providers can be found here: https://www.uk.coop/the-hive/apply/providers

The amount of support will be assessed once the referral is made. Support is very flexible but may include re-forecasting budgets, changes to their business model (e.g. moving to online or delivery services), VAT, HR, Governance issues, and signposting to government funded financial support. It will all be delivered remotely though

There is no financial support from this source at this point.

The Welsh Government has introduced two grants to support businesses in Wales through the Coronavirus pandemic. These grants are available to businesses that are registered to pay rates on their premises on 20 March 2020.

The Welsh Government Website has a section for Businesses and employers which is also regularly updated – including business rate support, third sector support and more:
