Feed in Tariff Extension

We are pleased that the UK Government’s department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has granted an extension to pre-registered Feed in Tariff projects for Solar PV and Hydropower.

Together with Community Energy England, Community Energy Scotland and Local Energy Scotland, we had pressed the UK government to grant this extension to ensure that the vast majority of current community energy projects could be completed.

This means that we can continue developing community energy projects over the coming months and help to empower the communities of Wales.

Dan McAllum, Director of Egni said: “We’ve now been able to install over 3MW of rooftop solar in Wales on 99 buildings so far. The previous FiT extension enabled us to install the largest rooftop project in Wales at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales. We’ve also installed solar on over 30 schools working with Newport, Swansea and Pembrokeshire Councils. Extending FiT until March 31st 2021 will allow us to do a lot more, definitely surpassing 100 installs, helping to support the green recovery in Wales and engaging people in renewable energy”
